Icon Update: painstakingly added alpha transparency to all icons. Turned all icons into sprites. Still no new content.
Cleaned up the default.css file to remove redundant formatting and organize tags; changed borders on various elements. Adjusted formatting on Log page. Added interactive border to image links. No content updated... yet.
Edited the default.css file to change a few "width" instances to "max-width" to account for smaller screens from smartphones. Added a page to the Crafts section titled Egg Preservation. Added a section for woodworking projects. Added a "visual tour" for the Shoe Stand and Vertical Wine Rack in lieu of a full walkthrough.
Today, the second version of Tempest In Mind goes live. In this iteration, I've tried to steer away from the "Geocities" style layout, stripping down the rough background images and making everything more icon-oriented. I've also removed break tags, style commands, etc., and now rely completely on cascading style sheets for my formatting needs.
In the coming months, 90% of the updates will be for content, and 10% for site upkeep. That is until there's enough criticism, or the technology changes enough to merit a change in presentation.
There are three things to note: I haven't updated Tempest In Mind in months; I've gotten feedback recently that my website, in it's current format, looks dated; and I've recently entered the job market and would like a website to show my skills off to potential employers. So today I've scrapped the website as it sits on my computer, archived it away, and am starting anew. My goal is to complete it by the time I start sending out résumés to serious employers.
I'm going to abandon the "virtual book" theme - I think that's too confusing. Instead, I'm going to just embrace the theme of the title and run with it.
